Irving B. Perlstein Gerontology Lectureship

Dr. Callahan is the founding Director of the Indiana University Center for Aging Research (IUCAR) and a Research Scientist in the Regenstrief Institute. He has more than two decades of experience in studying clinical interventions and new models of care designed to improve outcomes for older adults. Dr. Jicha is a Professor in the Department of Neurology and Sanders-Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Jicha serves on the Executive Committee and is the Director of the Clinical Core of the University's NIA-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Center.

These great MD's will be attending and speaking at this year's conference. Tuesday morning, Dr. Callahan will speak on "Caring for Patients with Alzheimer's Disease" from 8:30 to 10:00 am. The Perlstein Story 

Dr. Irving B. Perlstein was a respected member of the Medical Staff at Jewish Hospital during his long and rewarding career. A native of Buffalo, New York and a graduate of the University of Buffalo in 1939, Dr. Perlstein completed his internship and residency at Jewish Hospital. Specializing in Internal Medicine, Dr. Perlstein was recognized for his significant research on aging and thyroid dysfunction. His book, Diet is Not Enough, was published in 1963. 

Dr. Perlstein passed away on August 6, 1995 and this lectureship was created by his family as a living memorial to him and his commitment to his patients and healthcare. The fund memorializing Dr. Perlstein in this way is held and maintained by the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation.
